I first got to know the Nespresso while I was working in France because it was the office coffee machine. I loved it and ordered Nespresso pods for my office while I worked there. I had to have this machine so I ordered one in America for my office there. Now that I'm back in the States I can enjoy a morning and after lunch espresso and pretend I'm still in France. Yeah I don't have the good pastries, but at least I have the good coffee.

The D 90 is a very good machine. Like so many others, I wish it made the drinks a bit hotter. I get my Starbucks at 185 degrees F and the 115 seems almost tepid.

Also, there is no steam/milk frother nozzle on this model. If I had known that, I probably would have bought the cheapest model that did. Still I am going to keep this one rather than send it back because I really enjoy the taste of the numerous "Grand Crus" capsuels.

I know Nespresso from Europe where it is very popular - mainly because it makes incredibly good coffee. The machine is sturdy and easy to use and if you like a good cup of Espresso Nespresso is the system I would recommend. The machine itself is not very expensive but you have to be aware that you can only use the Nespresso capsules for this machine and they are fairly expensive. You have to order them online or by phone unless you live in a place with a Nespresso store (which is still only a few cities in the US). I chose the D90 because it is the simplest and least expensive model. Also it doesn't use up a lot of counter space. I love its simplicity, the design and the great coffee it makes.

Nespresso is the best company ever. Not only they make the best coffee, they also make sure to think about every single detail. Their marketing strategy is an example. The coffees come in different colors from dark to light, just like their coffees. When you buy a nachine, it comes with all the coffee samples. Their[...]is amazing (if your machine neads a repair during the warranty period, they send you a temporary replacement). I can't say enough about Nespresso, it has become my default gift for weddings,etc. The only difference between the more expensive models and this model is the milk frothing capabilities. But I prefer to use a milk frother anyway, so the chapear models do just fine for me (the coffee is always the same for all the machines and tastes the same).

Aside from the fact that it looks a bit like a mini Electrolux vacuum glued to the top of a mini toaster, IT IS A FINE MACHINE. There are no extra controls or other distractions from the basic - and vital - function of making an excellent espresso in a flash.

You will need to experiment with button timing and brew volume to get the cup you want. But what better experiment to have before you?

a 50th birthday gift for my husband. he says it is one of the best gifts i have ever given him. i have come to enjoy it too. the finished product is of superior quality. the best decaf ever tasted. really like the water resevoir in the back and outof sight. cant think of anything to criticize except the expense of the coffee pellets needed.
